PT-141 makes no sense without the receptor family it targets. The melanocortin system starts from a single prohormone, POMC, and signals through five receptors (MC1R to MC5R) that each run a different job, from skin pigment to adrenal hormones to appetite.
This unit walks that system, shows where MC4R sits in the brain, and explains the mouse knockout and selective-agonist evidence that ties MC4R to sexual function. The PT-141 label says MC1R and MC4R binding matter most at therapeutic doses, and that the human mechanism is unknown.
