What the clinical safety record actually shows

Afamelanotide has a well-characterized safety profile from its trials and registries, which this unit separates from the noisier gray-market reports. The common effects are mild. On the most-feared risk, melanoma, be exact: the two pivotal trials recorded one melanoma, in a patient on placebo, which is far too few events to estimate a risk either way, and that is why skin surveillance is recommended regardless.
