Where afamelanotide is studied but not approved

Beyond EPP, afamelanotide has been tried in other skin conditions. This unit grades that evidence honestly, from vitiligo, with a published randomized trial, down to a five-patient pilot in solar urticaria.

The throughline is that none of these is an approved indication. They are investigational uses studied under clinical supervision, and the course keeps them clearly separate from both the approved EPP use and gray-market tanning.
