The successor compound that reached humans, and failed

The closest thing to a human test of dihexa's mechanism is fosgonimeton (ATH-1017), a chemically distinct successor developed by Athira Pharma. It reached Phase 2 and Phase 2/3 Alzheimer's trials, and it did not work.

This unit is careful about a common confusion: fosgonimeton is not dihexa. But because they share a mechanism family, its clinical failure is the most relevant human signal we have, and it points the wrong way for the hype.
